MADRID, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed on Saturday that winger Lamine Yamal will miss Sunday's La Liga game at home to Valencia.
The 18-year-old sounded the alarm bells when he didn't appear on the training ground with his teammates, and in his press conference, Flick explained Yamal had "slight problems in his pelvis and he won't be available for Sunday's game."
The coach also added that the youngster was also a doubt for Barca's Champions League debut away to Newcastle United on Thursday.
Flick reminded reporters that Yamal had played a major role in both of Spain's recent World Cup qualifying matches, despite being rested in the 79th minute of the 3-0 win in Bulgaria due to back pain.
"It is a shame, because he played with the Spanish national team and he played with pain and he had problems," said Flick, who pointed out Yamal "played 79 and 73 minutes in the two games."
"He didn't train between games and that isn't looking after your players," he said in a clear criticism of Spain coach Luis de la Fuente.
"Spain has probably the best team in the world and the best players in every position, but maybe you have to look after them and the young players, it is something that makes me sad," concluded the Barca coach. ■
