BERLIN, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich secured its third win in as many matches in the Bundesliga season with a dominant 5-0 home victory over newly-promoted Hamburg on Saturday.

Serge Gnabry opened the scoring for Bayern in the third minute with a thunderous strike into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes with no chance. Six minutes later, Aleksandar Pavlovic doubled the advantage after being set up by Harry Kane, who played a pivotal role throughout the evening.

Hamburg, still searching for its first league goal of the campaign, briefly threatened when William Mikelbrencis forced goalkeeper Manuel Neuer into action in the 18th minute.

However, Bayern quickly reestablished its dominance. Following a handball in the box, referee Tobias Stieler awarded a penalty after a VAR review. Kane stepped up and converted to make it 3-0 in the 26th minute. Just three minutes later, Luis Diaz added a fourth with a long-range effort that deflected off Luka Vuskovic.

The visitors looked overwhelmed, struggling to close gaps and relying on Heuer Fernandes to keep the scoreline from growing even larger before halftime.

Kane sealed the result in the 62nd minute with his second goal of the evening. The England captain started the move deep in his own half, combined with Michael Olise and finished clinically from close range. Bayern debutant Nicolas Jackson nearly added a sixth late on, but Heuer Fernandes denied him with a save. Olise also struck the crossbar in the final moments.

The result leaves Bayern at the top of the table with nine points, while Hamburg sits second from bottom on just one point and without a goal. Bayern now shifts its attention to midweek's UEFA Champions League action against Chelsea.

"Everything is working well within the team right now. It's simply fun at the moment. We're playing well together, moving the ball quickly, and everything is just clicking," said Gnabry.

Also on Saturday, Borussia Dortmund climbed to second after edging 10-man Heidenheim 2-0 for its second straight win. Cologne and Wolfsburg shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller. Leipzig collected a narrow 1-0 victory over Mainz thanks to Johan Bakayoko's decisive strike. Freiburg celebrated its first win as Igor Matanovic's brace fueled a 3-1 comeback against Stuttgart, while Union Berlin slipped to a 4-2 home defeat against Hoffenheim.
