MADRID, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid played with 10 men for almost an hour but held on for a 2-1 win away to Real Sociedad to maintain a perfect winning start to the La Liga season on Saturday.
Dean Huijsen was sent off for pulling back Real Sociedad striker Mikel Oyarzabal in the 32nd minute, with the referee deciding he was the last man in defense.
Madrid had led from the 12th minute when Kylian Mbappe took advantage of a dreadful backpass to score, and Arda Guler doubled the lead before halftime after Mbappe's run and pass.
Oyarzabal pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after Dani Carvajal's handball and the home side went close to an equalizer when a shot was deflected onto both posts and bounced out with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois stranded.
Goals from Pablo Barrios and Nico Gonzalez gave Atletico Madrid its first win of the season, with a 2-0 triumph over Villarreal.
The win came at a price however, with defenders Robin Le Normand and David Hancko both needing to be changed due to injury, while Julian Alvarez was taken off at the break as a precaution ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League debut in Liverpool.
Athletic Bilbao's hopes of the club's best ever start to the season were ended by a 1-0 defeat at home to Alaves, as Denis Suarez's second-half cross deflected in off Alex Berenguer to leave Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simon stranded.
Mario Martin and Borja Mayoral both scored early in the second half as Getafe won 2-0 at home to Oviedo, who ended with 10 men after Federico Vinas was sent off for aggression.
On Friday night, Rafa Mir scored a stunning free kick as Elche drew 2-2 away to Sevilla to maintain an unbeaten start to the season. Mir is on loan at Elche from Sevilla, who took a point with goals from Isaac Romero and Peque, while Andre Da Silva scored Elche's opening goal. ■
