What happens when two people disagree completely and neither gives in? In 1175, at China's Ehu Academy in east China's Jiangxi Province, Zhu Xi and Lu Jiuyuan, two prominent scholars with different academic views in the Southern Song Dynasty, debated for three days, reaching no consensus. But years later, Zhu invited Lu to teach at his own academy. That spirit of "harmony without uniformity" continues to inspire us today. It shows that the real question isn't who wins, but whether we can still listen to those we disagree with.
