OUAGADOUGOU, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Burkina Faso's Ministry of Justice announced Friday that the Transitional Legislative Assembly (TLA) has unanimously adopted, in a secret ballot, the Revolution Charter, which replaces the Transition Charter of Oct. 14, 2022, and its amendment of May 25, 2024.
The Revolution Charter legally enshrines the Progressive Popular Revolution within the institutional framework and incorporates, in its preamble, the values of national defense, popular patriotic commitment, and national sovereignty.
The country's institutions receive new designations, including the "Government" and the "People's Legislative Assembly." The People's Legislative Assembly automatically replaces the Transitional Legislative Assembly, while the "political parties and movements" component within the legislative body is abolished and its seats reassigned.
The text also reflects the new territorial organization, integrating newly created regions into national representation, and clarifies the procedure for revising the Charter. ■
