JAKARTA, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia condemned an Israeli attack that killed Marwan Al Sultan, director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, along with his family, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.
Indonesia expressed its deepest condolences over the passing of Marwan Al Sultan, director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, and his family on July 2, 2025, the ministry said.
The ministry said that Indonesia was closely following the situation at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza amid escalating violence in the region, urging an immediate halt to Israel's atrocities and calling for a ceasefire to prevent further loss of life.
The humanitarian organization MER-C Indonesia said that Marwan Al Sultan was renowned for his profound dedication to the people of Gaza, particularly during the prolonged humanitarian crisis.
"Our hearts are filled with grief, and words can not express the magnitude of this loss," MER-C Indonesia said in a written statement.
In a joint statement with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President Prabowo Subianto called for concrete actions from the international community to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and promote sustainable peace in the region.
Both leaders emphasized the urgent need to stop the suffering of the people of Gaza, condemned the use of blockades and starvation as weapons of war, and rejected all forms of forced displacement of Palestinians. ■
